Astoria Hotel

The hotel is located on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, in the popular resort town of Balatonfüred, in its central Reform-Era-quarter. The building itself is monumental with a historic air, raising it among the town's most spectacular buildings. The edifice was erected in Romantic style to serve as a holiday home for the Dőry family in 1868. Owing to its huge size some or all upstairs rooms were let for guests in 1878. The residence started serving tourism in 1910, under the name Dőry Villa.

 

From 1926, the villa was called -Sacher Pension- and was run by a Jewish lady from Veszprém. After its rebuilding in 1936, the residence got a new owner and was named -Astoria Pension-. The property went into state ownership in 1950, and was used for several purposes until it became so worn-down that it was closed. In the early 1990s, the late villa was privatised and completely refurbished. -Hotel Astoria- was reopened in the summer of 2004 to serve as an ideal place for guests seeking relaxation and replenishment.
